Report of Book Bites Café

On 25th September 2024, The Library team has arranged book testing activity for the primary school students. The purpose of this event was to introduce and exhibit the different genres of library collection. The activity engaged staff and students in a collaborative effort to enhance our library resources. The objective of book testing is to access the quality of newly acquired books and to determine the suitability of books of various level of interest.

A diverse range of new books was selected from different genres, including fiction, non-fiction, graphic novels, science fiction, biographies, poems, Hindi books and magazines. The selection aimed to represent the varied interests of our library patrons.

Testing Procedure

  • Group Formation: Participants were divided into small groups, each assigned a specific genre.
  • Reading and Evaluation: Each group spent time reading their assigned books.
  • Discussion: After individual evaluations, groups reconvened to discuss their findings and reach a consensus on each book’s value.

Data Collection:

Feedback was collected through the reflection forms, which included both quantitative ratings (on a scale of 1-5) and qualitative comments.

Overall Ratings:

The average ratings from the evaluation forms are as follows:

  • Fiction: 4.0/5
  • Non-Fiction: 4.5/5
  • Graphic Novel and Science fiction: 4.8/5
  • Reference Materials: 3.8/5

The book testing activity was successful in gathering valuable insights about new library acquisitions. The collaborative approach fostered teamwork and generated useful feedback to enhance our collection. Moving forward, the recommendations will guide future acquisitions and programming, ensuring that our library continues to meet the needs and interests of our students.
